This article helps you troubleshoot uncommon panel issues. While the system is designed to be reliable, we understand how frustrating it can be when unexpected problems occur.

Uncommon Panel Issues

Uncommon Panel Issues

This article covers the following issues:

  • The panel will not power on
  • Frozen panel screen/unresponsive
  • Unable to soft reset

In most cases, these issues are resolved by performing a hard reset. Follow the instructions below based on the issue you are experiencing.

Panel Will Not Power On

If your panel does not power on, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the panel from the wall outlet.
  2. Remove the backup battery from inside the panel:
    • Slide the stand downward until it clicks out of the locked position.
    • Locate the battery door below the white button on the back of the panel.
    • Unscrew the battery door.
    • Slide the battery cover down and remove it.
    • Lift the battery up from the right side to expose the connectors.
    • Gently disconnect the battery connectors and set the battery aside.
  3. Leave the battery disconnected and plug the panel back into the outlet.
  4. Wait for the panel to power on and reach the “I’m Ready to Arm” screen.
    • This may take a few moments.
  5. Leave the panel powered on with AC power only for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Reconnect the backup battery.
  7. Reattach the battery cover and stand.

Frozen or Unresponsive Panel Screen

If the panel does not respond to touch or to the Home or Phone buttons, perform a hard reset:

  1. Remove the backplate from the panel.
  2. Unplug the AC power cord from the outlet.
  3. Carefully unplug the backup battery cable from its terminal.
  4. Wait 10 seconds to ensure the panel is fully powered off.
  5. Plug the backup battery cable back into the terminal.
  6. Plug the AC power cord back into the outlet.
  7. Reattach the backplate.

Important:
Wait 4 minutes before using the panel to allow it to fully reboot.

Unable to Perform a Soft Reset

Most common panel issues (such as communication failures) can be resolved with a soft reset.

How to Perform a Soft Reset

  1. Unplug the AC power cord from the outlet.
  2. Press and hold both the Home and Phone buttons at the same time for 12 seconds.
  3. When prompted, enter your 4-digit Master Code.
  4. The panel will power off.
  5. Wait 10 seconds.
  6. Plug the AC power cord back into the outlet.

If you are unable to complete a soft reset, or if the issue continues afterward, perform a hard reset.

Important:
Wait 4 minutes before using the panel to allow it to fully reboot.
