Your panel is the heart of your system and should be placed in a central location in your home. Keep the panel plugged into a power outlet at all times.

Important power requirements:

  • Do not plug the panel into a GFCI outlet (commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms with a reset button).
  • Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a light switch.

Common Panel Installation Locations

  • Counter-top
  • Table-top
  • Bookshelf
  • Desk
  • Wall (Professional installation recommended)

Securing Panel Power

If you have young children or are concerned about the panel being unplugged, you can secure the power plug to the outlet using the provided screw to help prevent accidental power loss.

After plugging in the panel, you may see a red X over the cellular signal bars. This is normal and indicates the panel is still establishing a connection with the cell tower. This process may take a few minutes.

Things to Avoid

When choosing a location for your panel, avoid placing it:

  • Where the siren would be difficult to hear
  • Near windows where it may be visible to an intruder
  • Within 4 feet of large metal objects or appliances (such as refrigerators, TVs, or washing machines)
  • In enclosed or low-signal areas, including:
    • Closets
    • Garages
    • Closed laundry rooms
    • Bathrooms
    • Stairwells
